Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 18, 2026
This policy applies to the iOS app Talkbee: Speak English with AI (bundle ID com.wlmarketing.talkbee), published by WL Online Marketing LLC (“we”, “us”).
- Your conversation audio stays on your iPhone. Talkbee turns your speech into text on the device.
- The AI tutor is your choice. If you allow it, the text of what you say goes to our AI service, which writes Bee's replies and corrections. Our own AI model answers first; when it is busy, OpenAI answers instead. Short practice recordings are sent only when you use a pronunciation check, and are deleted right after scoring. Nothing is used to train AI.
- Your conversations, mistakes and progress are stored on your iPhone, not on our servers.
- Talkbee has no accounts and no ads and never sells your data. It asks once whether it may track for ad measurement; saying no changes nothing in the app.
Speech and recordings
When you speak to Bee, Talkbee uses Apple's speech recognition to turn your voice into text, on your iPhone whenever the device supports it (on some older devices Apple may process the speech on its servers under Apple's own privacy policy). Talkbee also measures how long you spoke and your pauses, to estimate fluency. The conversation audio is not saved and is not sent to us.
In a pronunciation check (“say this sentence”), Talkbee sends the short recording of that one sentence (up to 12 seconds) and the sentence you were asked to say to our server at talkbee.appholdings.org. An open-source pronunciation model running on our own computers scores each word and sound, and the recording is deleted from memory as soon as the score is sent back. We never store it and never use it to train AI.
The AI tutor
Talkbee asks before the first conversation whether it may use the AI tutor (“Allow” or “Not now”), and you can switch it off any time in Settings › AI tutor. While it is off, Talkbee sends none of the details below and you can still practice the built-in phrases on your iPhone.
While the AI tutor is on, Talkbee sends our server at talkbee.appholdings.org, over an encrypted connection: the text of what you just said, the last few lines of the conversation, the scene you are practicing, your level and the language you chose for explanations. Our server asks an AI model to write Bee's reply, a correction and suggestions. The model that answers first runs on our own computers; when it is busy or slow, the same text is sent to OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C., USA) through its API, which does not use API data to train its models. Bee's voice is made by OpenAI's text-to-speech from Bee's reply text only (never your voice), and is AI-generated, not a human voice. We keep Bee's spoken replies in our server's memory for a few hours so repeated lines play faster; we don't store your words or your conversations.
The level check works the same way: the text of your answers, with your speaking speed and number of long pauses, goes to the AI model, which estimates your level and suggests one correction.
To keep the service fair we count requests per day per device and per network address. The device count uses a one-way hash of Apple's app-specific device identifier (identifier for vendor); counts are kept in memory and reset every day.
Your practice history
Conversations, corrections, saved mistakes, your level, streak and settings are stored in Talkbee's storage on your iPhone. They are included in your iPhone backups according to your own backup settings. Deleting your history in Settings, or deleting the app, removes them from your device.
Microphone, speech recognition and notifications
Talkbee uses the microphone and speech recognition only while you are speaking to Bee or doing a pronunciation check. If you allow notifications, Talkbee sends local reminders for your daily practice and the day before a free trial ends.
Purchases
Talkbee Pro is sold and billed by Apple; we never see your payment details. Apple gives the app signed transaction information (product, purchase and expiry dates, transaction IDs), which we use to unlock Pro and to measure sales, and sends us App Store Server Notifications about renewals, cancellations and refunds.
Analytics and ad measurement
Talkbee uses ACAnalytics, our own analytics service, to understand how the app is used and which of our ads lead to installs and subscriptions. It collects:
- an app-scoped device identifier (identifier for vendor) and an install identifier;
- app version, iOS version, device model, and the language, region and currency settings of your device;
- the IP address your device connects from, and the approximate location (country, region, city and postal code) that our hosting provider, Cloudflare, derives from it;
- in-app events, such as finishing onboarding, finishing a conversation or a level check, or viewing the subscription screen, with categories and counts only (never your words, recordings or corrections);
- App Store transaction and product IDs of your purchases, and Apple's App Store receipt;
- an Apple Search Ads attribution token, which tells us which Search Ads campaign, if any, led to the install.
To measure our TikTok ads, Talkbee includes TikTok's App Events SDK. After you finish the first steps, iOS asks once whether Talkbee may track you (Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt). Only if you tap “Allow” does the SDK start: it then sends TikTok (TikTok Inc. and its affiliates) app events such as launch, finishing the level check, starting a free trial and purchases, with your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), device type, iOS version and IP address, so TikTok can tell which of our ads brought you. If you tap “Ask App Not to Track”, nothing is sent to TikTok, and you can change your answer any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. Without tracking, Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork tells TikTok only, without identifying you, that an ad led to an install, a trial or a purchase. TikTok handles this data under its own privacy policy.
Sharing
We don't sell personal information. We share data only with service providers that process it for us (OpenAI for AI replies and Bee's voice, Cloudflare for analytics hosting, TikTok for ad measurement), with Apple for purchases, or when the law requires it.
Children
Talkbee is meant for adults and is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
Your choices and rights
You can turn off microphone, speech recognition and notification access for Talkbee in iOS Settings, switch the AI tutor off in Talkbee's Settings, and delete your history or the whole app at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold, or to object to its processing. Because Talkbee has no accounts, email us at feedback@appholdings.org (or from the app: Settings › Contact support) so we can find your data, and we will respond within 30 days.
Security and international transfers
Data sent to our services travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app when the change is significant.
